It's that time of year again, when we all reset and start planning for another twelve months. We don't know about you, but we are ready for new adventures that are not within four walls! After two years of uncertainty in tourism, there is now some positivity and a certain buzz about the return to travel and what it will look like in the future. From vacationing locally to working on the road, we explore the travel trends we hope to see in 2022.
Social (media) distance
Spent more time on your phone during lockdown than sharing? Don't worry, we've all done it. After spending more time indoors than usual over the past two years, social media platforms have quickly become our new best friends.
While social media isn't going anywhere anytime soon, you definitely should. Digital Detoxes, Unplug Vacations, Disconnect Day Trips… whatever change you make, vacations where you truly disconnect from technology are going to be even more popular next year. The best part is that you don't have to pay through the roof for fancy retreats. Jump in your car or RV, go out into the wilderness, and enjoy not having a WIFI connection.
spending time in nature
This brings us nicely on train number two, spending more time in nature. We're not sure if it's because we've been indoors for too long or our simple love of the outdoors – but vacations that involve the natural world and outdoor activities like hiking, biking, or swimming will top the list. many. This could include wellness trips where you do yoga alongside the sunrise, or hiking vacations where you experience real physical exertion.
We also predict that more people will be adding nature events to their travel lists than ever before to see some of nature's best. We tend to marvel at things that remind us of the power of nature, whether it's the northern lights, huge waterfalls, or unique landscapes. After the last two years, we are ready to be enchanted again!
