The tire pressure of the caravan is very important and checking the pressure of the tires is vital for our caravan.
The main cause of puncture or abnormal tire wear is too low or too high pressure.
CARAVAN TIRE PRESSURE: WHEN TO CHECK
As we said, checking the tire pressure of the caravan is the duty of every caravan driver, but why is it so important?
Because if the tire is over-inflated, it will not stick to the ground properly because only the middle part touches the road, in this case a situation called "balloon effect" occurs. In this case, there is less road holding as the small surface of the tire touches the asphalt.
On the other hand, if the tire pressure is too low, the tire just touches the sides, causing uneven wear on the sides and creating more jolts in the caravan.
As you can imagine, the correct tire pressure is necessary for the caravan to travel safely.
Pressure should be checked every time the caravan is used, but if you're using it every weekend, we recommend checking it once a month or before every "important" trip.
We personally check the tire pressure of the caravan when the temperature changes significantly or once a month.
HOW TO FIND THE TIRE PRESSURE OF THE CARAVAN
How to find the tire pressure value of the caravan?
Since it is not easy to understand the correct tire pressure value, it is one of the questions that are constantly asked.
The simplest way is to consult your caravan's owner and maintenance manual and trust the manufacturer's instructions.
But what if you don't have a camper maintenance book? How do you know the tire pressure of your caravan?
Do not despair, because each tire has its maximum pressure value in relief (usually expressed in Psi), so you can know without any problems.
If you want to get the corresponding value in Bar, you need to multiply the value in Psi by 0.0689.
Example: 65 Psi X 0.0689 = 4.4785 Bar
Your tire will need to be inflated to 4.4785 Bar, which is approximately 65 Psi.
We are always talking about approximate models, and we say that the calculations made are indicative, there is absolutely a small percentage of tolerance even in the value read on the manometer.
Note: In addition, we remind you that it is important to comply with the weight of the caravan specified in the vehicle registration document, it may be useful to increase the tire pressure if your caravan exceeds this (even if it does not). 0.2 / 0.3 Bar but depends on the weight of your caravan.
Take the ACTUAL weight of the trailer and divide it by 2 (for each wheel to have loads).
Divide the result by the maximum load (maximum load) of the single wheel and multiply everything by pmax.
Sample:
Caravan weight 1500 kg
load max 850 kg
Pmax 4.5 bar
Calculation:
1500/2 = 750 kg
750/850 = 0.88
0.88 × 4.5 = 4 bars
Tires should be inflated to 4 bar. It can be increased by 0.1 / 0.2 bar with a little effort.
Note: To avoid unpleasant inconveniences, constantly monitor the pressure of the caravan tires!
